I grew up inside video game soundtracks, anime scores, and movie themes, and playing Led Zeppelin covers with my classmates. I've been falling down musical rabbit holes ever since: Brazilian samba, Japanese city pop, 1920s swing, whatever I'm in the middle of now. My best work comes from splicing those worlds together.
After eight years running a company, I came back to music a different person. It gave me the half of the job most people skip: I show up prepared and things get finished. What pulls me in is the why in my favourite records, down to how the snare is tuned. Then I take it apart and build something of my own from the pieces. The good stuff comes from constraints and context.
I take whatever role the song needs: writing from scratch, arranging, drumming on something already cooking, or stepping back to assemble the right people and drive it home. I work best with artists who have their own taste and drive. One instinct at different scales, putting sounds and people together into music that feels alive.
